C/R: Awutu Nkosuohene, Zebra Transport lead Kasoa clean-up exercise to ‘beat plastic pollution’

The Nkosuohene of the Awutu Traditional Area, Nana Kojo Agyiri, in partnership with Zebra Transport Services, has launched a clean-up exercise in Kasoa under the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution.”
The initiative, which also featured free health screening, was organised in response to recent sanitation challenges and a cholera outbreak in the area.
Speaking during the exercise, Nana Kojo Agyiri emphasised the importance of community involvement in environmental protection.
He called on the government to reintroduce Town Council institutions and review the powers of traditional authorities to allow them to play a more active role in enforcing sanitation rules.
The Secretary of Zebra Transport Services, Mr. Mustapha, urged residents to desist from indiscriminate disposal of waste, stressing the company’s commitment to working with stakeholders to promote environmental cleanliness.
“Environmental pollution directly affects our health and quality of life.
We must all play our part in keeping our surroundings clean,” he noted.
An executive member of Zebra Transport, Madam Farida, appealed to women traders to make sanitation a priority at their trading sites, stressing the link between cleanliness and good health.
As part of the exercise, participants cleaned choked gutters, cleared bushes, and desilted drains around the Kasoa Roundabout, reaffirming the community’s resolve to maintain a healthy and sustainable environment.
