CGI Samuel Amadu visits AICO II Daniel Kofi Oppong at hospital, condemns Gbintri 'cowardly' attack

CGI Samuel Basintale Amadu has visited AICO II Daniel Kofi Oppong at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where he is receiving treatment after surviving a violent attack at the Gbintri checkpoint, North East.
The tragic incident claimed the life of AICO II Rafiq Mohammed, who was on duty with AICO Oppoing at the time.
During the visit, CGI Amadu expressed deep sorrow over the loss and strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a “cowardly act” that would not shake the resolve of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) in protecting Ghana's borders and fighting crime.
“This cowardly attack will not deter us,” he affirmed.
“We remain committed to safeguarding the borders of our country. Our officers will be provided with the necessary protective gear and logistics to carry out their duties effectively.”
He also appealed to the general public to assist the service with information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
The visit proceeds CGI Amadu’s tour of the North East Region, aimed at assessing operational readiness and boosting morale among frontline officers.
He was accompanied by DCOI Maud Anima Quainoo, Head/Public Affairs Department, Northern Regional Commander; DCOI Thomas Adjei, Chief Staff Officer; ACOI Gorden Saah; and other top officers.
The GSI has noted they are continue to work closely with security agencies to ensure justice is served.
