CMG’s ‘Operation Feed Yourself' not political – Mgt
The management Class Media Group (CMG), the initiator of the revived 'Operation Feed Yourself (OFY)' drive has stated categorically that the programme has no political colouration.
According to the management of CMG, this is a private initiative targeted at reducing the importation of food and Ghana's overreliance on said imported products.
This initiative sensitises people to find solutions to their food needs and that of the country, management explained.
The initiative with the motto: 'A National Crusade To Feed Ghana' was launched at the forecourt of Accra-based Class Media Group on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.
The management explains that the event was to rally listeners and viewers of CTV to produce their own food.
"We see this agriculture programme as a vital contribution towards addressing a deep-seated national problem, to increase the levels of food and crop production not only for our listeners' and viewers' progress and prosperity, but for Ghana as a whole," Group COO of CMG, Mr Theodore Edwards said.
Mr Dean Akoto, a member of the planning committee, speaking on the Ghana Yensom morning show hosted by Odehyieba Kofi Essuman on Accra 100.5 FM, said the programme has nothing to do with any of the government’s initiatives on agriculture in the country.
He said this is solely a private initiative to help people to start back-yard farming to help address the no-end in sight for price hikes of foodstuffs.
He said times are hard hence, the need for people to engage in farming as a way of life
