Ghana has recorded three new cases of coronavirus raising the number of people infected with COVID-19 to 27.

This was confirmed by the Ghana Health Service.

It is unclear whether or not the three cases were all imported.

An update on its website pointed out that a total of 521 suspected cases of COVID-19 has been tested by the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) and the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR).

All the remaining 25 confirmed cases are receiving treatment in isolation, the Service added.

The death is believed to be an 84-year-old Ghanaian woman who returned to Ghana from the USA recently.

So far, 20 of the confirmed cases are of Ghanaian nationality, the majority of whom returned to the country from affected countries.

The seven others are from Norway, Lebanon, China, France and UK.

Globally, more than 375,000 cases have been recorded with about 16,361 death.
