Communications Minister donates computers to strengthen NACOC operations
The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Mr Samuel Nartey George, has presented computers and related accessories to the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) to enhance the Commission’s operational efficiency.
The presentation, which took place on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, comprised 10 laptop computers and 10 desktop computers.
The support followed a formal request by NACOC to the Minister, which was subsequently referred to the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) for assistance.
The intervention forms part of the government’s broader agenda to strengthen public institutions through the provision of modern digital tools.
Speaking at the presentation, Mr. Samuel Nartey George reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equipping state agencies with the technological resources needed to improve efficiency and service delivery.
He expressed confidence that the computers would significantly boost NACOC’s operations and contribute to the effective execution of its mandate, adding that the gesture marked the beginning of sustained support rather than a one-off initiative.
The Minister commended the Administrator of GIFEC, Mr. Sofo Tanko Rashid-Computer, and his team for their prompt response, particularly in deploying the equipment despite limited availability.
Receiving the items on behalf of NACOC, the Director-General, Brigadier General Maxwell Obuba Mantey, expressed appreciation to the Minister and GIFEC for the timely intervention.
He said the computers would greatly enhance staff productivity and operational effectiveness, assuring that the equipment would be used judiciously to advance NACOC’s mandate in the fight against illicit drug trafficking and related crimes.
Brigadier General Mantey further lauded the Ministry and GIFEC for their responsiveness to the Commission’s needs and called for sustained collaboration among state institutions to strengthen national security and promote good governance.
