Curfew enforced in parts of Nkwanta South following security advice
The government has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on a number of communities in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region following advice from the National Security Council.
A statement said the Minister for the Interior, through an Executive Instrument, ordered the restriction to take effect from Friday, June 19, 2026. The curfew will be in force daily between 5 PM and 6 AM.
The affected communities are Keri, Abrewanko, Abrewanko Junction, Nyambo, Nyambo Junction, Shari, Kromase, Power, Nyakoma, Odomi, Bonakye and Nkwanta.
Government appealed to traditional leaders, community elders, opinion leaders, young people and residents to remain calm and support efforts to restore peace in the area.
Residents and other stakeholders were also encouraged to pursue any concerns through peaceful channels as authorities work to maintain stability in the municipality.
