Cyber Security Authority calls for collective action to secure Ghana's digital space
The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has emphasised the importance of collective action in securing Ghana's digital space, as the country marks the 2025 National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NACSA).
The theme for this year's event is "Building a Safe, Informed, and Accountable Digital Space."
Acting Director General-CSA Divine Selase Agbeti highlighted that:
- The CSA has made significant progress in regulating critical information infrastructure and tracking down cybercrime.
- Ghana has earned global recognition, attaining Tier 1 role modelling status in the 2024 edition of the International Telecommunication Union's Global Cyber Security Index.
- The CSA faces challenges, including inadequate working space, technology, and sustainable funding, as well as staff retention issues due to the global skills shortage of cybersecurity experts.
He is calling for greater collaboration and shared ownership among all actors in the digital space to build a digitally resilient Ghana.
The Authority emphasises the need for collective action to secure the digital ecosystem and protect critical national digital assets.
According to him, the CSA has intensified the implementation of measures to regulate critical information infrastructure and has collaborated with law enforcement agencies to disrupt cybercrime networks.
The Authority has also developed guidelines for public sector entities to procure cybersecurity services.
He said that despite progress, the CSA faces challenges that hinder its work.
The Authority is working to address these concerns and is committed to supporting efforts to build a safer digital Ghana.
Overall, the CSA's call for collective action highlights the importance of collaboration in securing Ghana's digital space and promoting a safe and trustworthy digital environment.
