The Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has embarked on an intensive working tour of key military institutions under the Ministry of Defence, spending nearly 11 continuous hours inspecting installations and engaging with personnel within the 1 Garrison of the Ghana Armed Forces.

The visit, which took place yesterday, formed part of efforts by the Mahama-led administration to assess operational readiness, address challenges, and boost morale across the military.

Dr. Omane Boamah's tour included a stop at the Eastern Naval Command, where he inspected strategic naval installations and observed naval officers' expertise in monitoring Ghana’s marine ecosystem.

At Michel Camp, he witnessed the precision and skill of troops in handling explosive ordnance disposal operations.

At the Army Recruits Training School (ARTS), the Minister evaluated preparations for the upcoming recruitment and enlistment of 12,000 new personnel into the Ghana Armed Forces and the Ghana Military Academy.

He reiterated a strong warning against corruption in the enlistment process.

"Let me repeat: recruitment and enlistment into the Ghana Armed Forces is not for sale; and will not be for sale under my EAGLEEYES watch!" he declared emphatically.

As part of the visit, Dr. Boamah also toured military medical facilities to identify challenges and implement measures aimed at improving healthcare delivery for service personnel.

He commended Commodore Asiedu-Larbi and his team for their professionalism and dedication, noting that the Ministry remains committed to improving the welfare and safety of troops under President Mahama's "Resetting Ghana agenda".

“To our troops, I say: your service is valued, and we're working hard to ensure your welfare and safety,” he affirmed.
