The Fisheries Enforcement Unit of the Fisheries Commission has carried out an unannounced monitoring visit to Bluesea Fishing Company in Sogakope following complaints raised by the Bakpa Kebenu community in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region.

The visit, which took place on Friday, 5th June 2026, formed part of ongoing regulatory efforts to ensure compliance within Ghana’s fisheries sector and address concerns raised by local communities.

During the exercise, enforcement officers engaged management of the company as well as community leaders to gather first-hand information on the issues at stake.

The team also reviewed relevant operational records and documented preliminary findings to support further assessment.

According to the Commission, the monitoring exercise is part of a broader investigation into the complaints, with further technical evaluation currently underway.

A detailed report is expected to be compiled and submitted upon completion of the investigation to guide appropriate action and help resolve outstanding concerns between the company and the affected community.

The Fisheries Commission has assured stakeholders of its commitment to transparency, compliance enforcement, and sustainable fisheries management while addressing community concerns through due process.
