Full operations resume at Ghana embassy in Washington DC Thurs. May 29, Foreign Affairs Ministry says

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced the reopening of the Ghanaian Embassy in Washington DC, United States of America.
This comes after a comprehensive overhaul of operations at the embassy which was previously closed due to recalls, suspensions, and dismissals.
Ablakwa wrote on Facebook, “Full embassy operations resume this Thursday – May 29, 2025.”
Ahead of the date, he said, “A fresh team of our most experienced and astute diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been deployed to take over and overhaul the entire system.”
He noted, “Forensic probe and prosecutions to follow.”
“Let’s be clear, President Mahama’s government will not tolerate any whimper of corruption, conflict of interest and reckless abuse of office,” he cautioned.
According to a statement by the ministry, an information technology (IT) team had been deployed to reconfigure the embassy’s website and payment platforms, removing all unofficial and unauthorised links associated with the embassy’s IT system.
The ministry assured the general public measures were in place to clear the backlog, and any inconvenience resulting from the necessary interventions is deeply regretted.
