GA/R: Construction resumes on long-stalled Pokuase–Nsawam road project

News
Contractor return to Pokuase -Nsawam road

Work has finally resumed on the long-abandoned Pokuase–Nsawam stretch of the Accra–Kumasi highway, bringing relief to commuters and transport operators who have endured years of hardship on the busy corridor.

Construction crews officially returned to the site over the weekend and have since been working daily to recover lost time.

The resumption follows mounting pressure from the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), which had threatened to stage protests over the government’s delay in addressing the project.

Reports indicate that the government has now settled outstanding payments to the contractor, paving the way for the works to continue.

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Mr Kwame Governs Agbodza, confirmed this in an interview with Accra-based Class 91.3 FM.

The Pokuase–Nsawam stretch is a critical link on the Accra–Kumasi highway, and its rehabilitation is expected to ease traffic congestion, reduce travel time, and improve road safety for thousands of daily users.
