The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has published the officially sanctioned fees for the University of Ghana for the 2025/2026 academic year, a move intended to clear up uncertainty and address questions regarding the university’s charges.

In a release dated Monday, January 12, and endorsed by the Director-General, Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, the Commission announced that the Academic Facility User Fee will remain unchanged from the 2024/2025 academic year, meaning students will not face any increase under that category.

The approved charges include:

Student Representative Council (SRC) dues set at GH¢50

SRC Development Levy of GH¢150

Graduate Students’ Association (GRASAG) Development Levy amounting to GH¢250

Telecel Broadband Levy of GH¢122, applicable to all undergraduate students, including first-year entrants

GTEC also approved a special GH¢100 75th Anniversary Levy, which will apply only during the 2025/2026 academic year and will not be carried forward into subsequent years.

The Commission further advised that students should be adequately informed about their entitlements, including circumstances under which they may choose not to pay certain levies where provisions allow. GTEC described the publication of the fee schedule as part of its efforts to promote openness and ensure adherence to approved guidelines at the university.

“This directive is intended to settle concerns related to the University of Ghana’s 2025/2026 fees. We anticipate the continued collaboration of all parties to ensure smooth implementation,” the statement concluded.
