Ghana Police Service: Dampare sacked, Yohuno takes over as IGP

President John Dramani Mahama has in accordance with Articles 91 and 202 of the 1992 Constitution, and in consultation with the Council of State, appointed Commissioner of Police (COP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the Inspector of Police (IGP).
COP Yohuno replaces COP Dr George Akuffo Dampare.
After rife speculation, especially on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, the news was confirmed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President, and Minister, Government Communications.
COP Yohuno brings 40 years of experience to the position of IGP and is expected to oversee the modernisation and transformation of the Ghana Police Service (GPS).
