Government clears outstanding payments for Tema Motorway Expansion Project
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has announced that government has cleared all outstanding payments owed to the contractor undertaking the Tema Motorway expansion project.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament, the minister said government has fulfilled its financial obligations under the contract and that no arrears remain outstanding.
According to him, the payments were made to remove a major challenge that could affect the timely execution of the project and improve the pace of construction.
Mr Agbodza noted that the Tema Motorway is a key transport corridor linking Accra and Tema and plays an important role in trade, port activities and the movement of goods within the sub-region.
He called on the contractor to intensify work on the project, stressing that with all payment issues resolved, government expects faster progress on the expansion works.
The minister said the move forms part of efforts to eliminate bottlenecks that often delay the delivery of major infrastructure projects.
