Head-on collision claims 4 lives, others injured
Four lives were lost during a fatal accident when a Toyota RAV4 and a Toyota Hiace mini-bus collided head-on near Anum-Asikuma along the Ho-Accra Road.
The tragic incident claimed the lives of both drivers of the two vehicles and two passengers.
The driver of the Toyota Hiace has been identified as Justice Adjei, popularly known as Bob Marley.
However, the other deceased are yet to be identified.
Eleven passengers sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the Peki Government Hospital for medical treatment. The bodies of the deceased were also conveyed to the hospital for preservation.
An eyewitness told the media the accident occurred in the morning of Saturday, February 1, 2025, when the Toyota RAV4, with registration number GW 3328-S, attempted to overtake another vehicle while traveling from Accra.
Due to the speed, it ran into the oncoming Toyota Hiace mini-bus, which was heading from Ho to Koforidua.
The severity of the incident damaged the two vehicles beyond recognition.
Meanwhile, police have commenced their investigation to identify the rest of the victims.
Residents on the road where the accident occurred are appealing to the road safety authority to ensure the kind of speed drivers use on the Ho-Accra road is regulated in order to reduce the road accidents.
