The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho Central, Richmond Edem Kofi Kpotosu, has acknowledged that the work of MPs is demanding and often more challenging than many citizens may perceive.

In an interview with Class Media Group (CMG) reporter Gordon Desmond Sackitey, Kpotosu described parliamentary duties as “indeed tedious,” noting that the responsibilities of lawmakers extend far beyond debates on the floor of Parliament.

He revealed that he draws inspiration from former President John Agyekum Kufuor, who once publicly apologized to Ghanaians for criticising the then National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration led by Jerry John Rawlings, admitting that his earlier criticisms were made out of limited understanding of the complexities of governance.

According to the Ho Central legislator, one of the major challenges confronting MPs is what he described as a funding gap.

He explained that there is a widespread perception among the public that MPs are provided with sufficient financial resources to carry out their daily activities and constituency obligations.

However, he clarified that this assumption is inaccurate, stressing that parliamentarians are often required to manage significant demands from constituents without dedicated funds to address every request.

Kpotosu further stated that although he made several pledges during his campaign, he remains determined to fulfil them.

He assured constituents that with patience and resilience, he would overcome the obstacles facing his office and deliver on his promises.

The MP also highlighted a number of development projects in the medical sector he has initiated within the Ho Central constituency, expressing optimism that they will be completed within his tenure.

He reiterated his commitment to serving the people of Ho Central and called for continued support as he navigates the demands of parliamentary work and constituency development.
