Hundreds troop to Black Stars Square for Kamala Harris’ public lecture

Hundreds of Ghanaians and other African nationals have thronged the Black Star Square near the former seat of government, Christianborg Castle, to see the Vice President of the United States of America, Madam Kamala Harris, deliver a major speech to young people.
Participants queued in readiness for the speech as early as 6:00 a.m.
The event is expected to start at 10:00 a.m.
This is the highlight of her trip to Ghana.
The visit by Ms Harris, who is travelling with her husband, Doug Emhoff, focuses on economic development, climate change, and food security.
Vice President Harris will later today visit the Cape Coast Castle.
She will speak at the famed Cape Coast castle about the brutalities of slavery on Africans in the Diaspora.
In Accra, the Vice President will again meet with women entrepreneurs and discuss their economic empowerment.
She will announce a series of continent-wide public and private sector investments to help close the digital gender divide and to empower women economically.
