The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has called on alumni of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to actively support their alma mater as a way of giving back and strengthening its capacity to train future leaders.

Mr. Muntaka made the call when he spoke at the maiden KNUST Kaptains of Industry Soirèe and Awards Nite (KOISAN), held in Accra.

The event, which was held under the theme “Partnership in Progress,” brought together KNUST alumni who have distinguished themselves as captains of industry.

Addressing the gathering, the Interior Minister emphasised that KNUST played a pivotal role in shaping the lives and careers of its graduates and therefore deserved sustained support from its alumni.

He noted that contributing to the development of the university was a shared responsibility, stressing the need to position the institution to train more students who would serve Ghana and humanity.

“KNUST made us what we are today. We must contribute to making it better than we met it,” he said.

Mr. Muntaka shared nostalgic memories of his days as a student at KNUST and highlighted the importance of strong partnerships between universities, alumni, and industry in driving national development.

He encouraged fellow alumni to rally behind the newly launched KNUST Alumni Endowment Fund (KAEF), describing it as a critical vehicle for supporting the university’s long-term growth and sustainability.

The KOISAN event marked a platform for strengthening ties among alumni, industry leaders, and the university, while celebrating excellence and fostering collaboration for progress.
