NDC membership drive: No family of Akufo-Addo will be admitted as a member-Mustapha Gbande
A Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbane, has announced that the party’s yet-to-be-started membership drive will be open to “all well-meaning Ghanaians” except individuals related to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Neat FM’s morning show with Mac-Jerry Osei Agyemang on Friday, January 30, Mr Gbane described the former president’s family as a “national nuisance” and accused them of perpetrating “all manner of fraud” against the country.
He said, “The family of Nana Addo betrayed the will of Ghanaians and committed atrocities against our nation.
They must be prevented from joining the NDC as we kickstart our membership drive and reorganise for the 2028 elections.”
The NDC leadership has emphasised that the membership drive is part of a broader reorganisation strategy ahead of the 2028 general elections, aimed at strengthening grassroots participation and party cohesion.
Gbane’s remarks have sparked discussions on political inclusivity and the boundaries of party membership, as the NDC continues efforts to mobilise supporters nationwide.
