The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon and Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, Mr. John Dumelo, has urged the management of the Roman Ridge Prisons to ensure the proper maintenance of boreholes being drilled for the prison inmates, stressing that the project is funded with taxpayers’ money and must be protected.

Mr. Dumelo made the call during a sod-cutting ceremony at the Roman Ridge Prisons to mark the commencement of the drilling of 13 boreholes across the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.

He emphasised that the success of the initiative depends not only on the completion of the boreholes but also on their long-term maintenance.

According to the MP, the borehole project is aimed at improving access to clean and reliable water for institutions and communities within the constituency.

He noted that safeguarding the facilities would ensure value for money and sustained benefits for residents.

The management of the Roman Ridge Prisons welcomed the intervention and assured the MP of their commitment to maintaining the boreholes once completed.

The borehole project forms part of broader efforts by the MP to address water challenges and improve living and working conditions within Ayawaso West Wuogon.
