Jean Mensa has lost touch with the problems associated with registration process – GCPP

The General Secretary of the Great Consolidated People's Party (GCPP) has expressed concerns regarding the Electoral Commission's (EC) chair Jean Mensa's posture during her recent press conference to address the challenges in the limited registration exercise for the District Level Elections.
According to the GCPP, Jean Mensa's defensive stance during the press conference suggests that she may have lost touch with the ongoing registration process.
The party's General Secretary, Mr Citizen Ato Dadzie, argued that the EC boss appears to lack a clear understanding of the problems that have arisen due to the implementation of the limited registration exercise.
Mr Dadzie emphasised that the EC boss needs a better understanding of the challenges associated with the limited registration exercise.
During an interview on the Ghana Yensom morning show on Accra 100.5 FM hosted by Odehyeeba Kofi Essuman on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, Mr Dadzie criticised the EC's decision to conduct the limited registration exercise at its district offices instead of traditional polling stations.
He argued that this choice contravenes the law, which dictates that registration centres should be easily accessible to voters.
Furthermore, Mr Dadzie highlighted the issue of long queues forming along party lines in Winneba, in the Central Region.
In his view, this is due to delays caused by the EC's machines and has led to both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) taking advantage of the situation.
He asserted that this approach undermines the EC's goal of ensuring transparency in the registration process and suggested that the EC may be falling short of its motto: ‘Integrity, Fairness, and Transparency’.
