A group identifying itself as the Jesuits of Gadaŋme Diaspora has raised alarm over what it describes as a coordinated campaign of harassment against the McDan Group of Companies by various state agencies.

In a statement, the group accused institutions such as the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) of unfairly targeting the company.

They allege that these actions are politically motivated and intended to tarnish the reputation of McDan and its leadership.

The group pointed fingers at journalist and political commentator Raymond Archer, a long-time critic of McDan, claiming he has made public threats against the company that are now materialising under the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.

They contend that Archer’s actions stem from a personal vendetta and suggest that state institutions may be acting in concert with him.

One of the group’s key concerns is the alleged leaking of confidential correspondence addressed to McDan Group, which they claim has reached the public domain before the company itself could receive them. According to the Jesuits of Gadaŋme Diaspora, this points to a deliberate attempt to damage the company's public image.

The group also criticised the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) for what they described as suspiciously timed demands for McDan’s annual tax records.

They argue that this is part of a broader effort to intimidate the company and disrupt its operations.

Calling for fairness and impartiality, the group urged the government to recognise McDan Group’s significant contributions to Ghana’s economy and social development.

They also called for an investigation into Raymond Archer’s alleged influence and the purported collaboration between him and state agencies.

As these serious allegations circulate, observers are keenly awaiting the government’s response and the next steps in what is shaping up to be a high-stakes standoff involving one of Ghana’s most prominent business entities.
