The Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has alleged that former Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu, was not placed in prison custody immediately after her return to Ghana from the United States.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Awuah claimed that although Tamakloe-Attionu arrived in the country on June 9 2026, she was not admitted into prison custody until June 24 following what he described as sustained public pressure.

According to the MP, records available to the Minority indicate that Tamakloe-Attionu was not in the custody of the Ghana Prisons Service during the 15-day period between her arrival in Ghana and her eventual admission into prison.

Mr Awuah further alleged that she is currently being held in the female section of a medium-security prison facility but declined to disclose its location.

He said the decision not to identify the facility was intended to prevent authorities from citing security concerns as grounds for transferring her elsewhere.

The Manhyia South MP, who is also a member of Parliament's Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee, further claimed that Tamakloe-Attionu initially entered custody under protest after allegedly being assured that efforts were being made to overturn the court's decision and prevent her imprisonment.

He also alleged that she had been given assurances that she would regain her freedom either through a favourable court ruling or after public attention surrounding the case had subsided.

Mr Awuah said the Minority would continue to monitor developments in the matter and keep the public informed.
