NIA assures it hasn't introduced new fees for Ghana Card services at premium centres

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has observed with “great concern some misinformation on Facebook by the Daily Graphic dated 4th February 2025, with the caption ‘NIA introduces new fees for Ghana card services at premium centres’”.
This was communicated via a statement dated February 4, and signed by the NIA Corporate Affairs Directorate.
“The NIA in an earlier post on Facebook singled out certain fees and charges based on frequently asked questions and created an e-poster to inform and remind prospective applicants. However, this post was misconstrued to mean a revision of fees and charges. The statement by Daily Graphic is false and untrue,” the NIA explained.
“This has caused an uproar by the public.”
“The NIA wishes to state categorically that the said fees and charges were approved in 2023 by the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana and have not been reviewed since. All fees and charges reviews are done solely with the approval of Parliament and not by the Authority,” the NIA noted.
“The said fees and charges posted on our Facebook page apply to our Premium Centres only as our District Offices remain free for all first issuance processes.”
“We entreat all media houses to verify the authenticity of information before the dissemination of same,” the statement concluded.
“The NIA stands committed to serving the public and the nation as whole with respect, dignity, integrity and efficiency as a dedicated and responsible public sector institution.”
