The Central Regional Minister, Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, has cautioned contractors working on the government's 24-hour economy market projects in the Central Region to ensure timely completion and adhere to approved standards.

According to the minister, the 24-hour economy initiative is a key government programme aimed at boosting economic activity, creating jobs and improving livelihoods.

He said the success of the initiative depends largely on the quality and timely delivery of the market infrastructure being developed across the country.

Eduamoah stressed that he would not tolerate delays, poor workmanship or abandoned projects, noting that the region cannot afford incomplete market facilities that fail to serve their intended purpose.

Referring to past infrastructure projects, he said he did not want a situation where some projects remain unfinished while others are completed, citing certain Community Day Senior High School projects, popularly known as E-Blocks, as an example.

He urged contractors to demonstrate professionalism, commitment and accountability throughout the construction period.

The minister further assured residents that he would regularly monitor the projects to ensure contractors comply with timelines and project specifications.

He also directed Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region to actively supervise the projects within their respective jurisdictions.

According to him, MMDCEs should make regular visits to project sites, monitor progress and promptly report any challenges that could affect completion.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira East, Emelia Ankomah, commended President John Dramani Mahama and the government for introducing the 24-hour economy policy.

She described the initiative as a programme with the potential to stimulate local economic growth, support businesses and create employment opportunities, particularly for young people.

Ankomah expressed confidence that the market project would improve commercial activities in the municipality and contribute to the socio-economic development of residents.

She also urged community members to support the project and protect the facility upon completion.

The minister and the MP made the remarks during an inspection tour of the 24-hour economy market project site in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality of the Central Region.
