President Mahama constitutes Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy to drive job creation, exports and 24-hour Economy
President John Dramani Mahama has constituted a Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy (PAGE) as part of government efforts to restore macroeconomic stability, strengthen fiscal sustainability, and drive inclusive, job-rich economic growth.
According to a statement from the Presidency, the move is anchored in the implementation of key government initiatives, including the 24-Hour Economy, the Accelerated Export Development Programme, and the broader Reset Agenda.
The establishment of PAGE underscores the president’s commitment to drawing on deep national and international expertise to support sound economic governance, strengthen policy coordination, and promote evidence-based decision-making.
The group is expected to help government navigate current economic challenges while positioning Ghana for long-term growth and resilience.
Mandate and Functions
The Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy will serve as a high-level advisory body reporting directly to the president. It will provide independent, non-partisan, and strategic economic advice on a wide range of policy issues.
Specifically, the group will advise on macroeconomic management, fiscal consolidation, debt sustainability, and the alignment of fiscal and monetary policies.
It will also provide guidance on structural transformation, industrial development, competitiveness, and export-led growth strategies.
In addition, PAGE will support sectoral development, private-sector expansion, investment mobilisation, and sustainable job creation.
A key part of its mandate includes supporting the design, sequencing, and implementation of flagship programmes such as the 24-Hour Economy and the Accelerated Export Development Programme, as well as broader national productivity-enhancing reforms.
The advisory group will also conduct periodic assessments of Ghana’s economic performance and propose policy adjustments or corrective measures where necessary.
Furthermore, it will contribute expert input to Ghana’s economic negotiations and engagements with bilateral and multilateral development partners, international financial institutions, and investors.
Reporting Structure
The group will submit advisory memoranda and briefs to the president as and when requested, including periodic strategic reviews aimed at strengthening economic performance and policy effectiveness.
The Presidency says the creation of PAGE reflects government’s resolve to ensure prudent economic management and accelerate Ghana’s recovery and long-term development.
Membership
According to the Presidency, PAGE shall be chaired by the president and shall comprise distinguished individuals drawn from academia, public service, and the private sector.
