C/R: Man busted at Buduburan for attempting to sell niece to secure Canadian visa

Nana Kofi Amofa, a 30-year-old man also known as Kofi Yesu, has been apprehended by the Central East Regional Police Intelligence Unit.
The man was apprehended for attempting to sell his 6-year-old niece for GHS150,000 in exchange for a Canadian visa.
The arrest took place on Tuesday, 23 July 2024, around 10:00 PM at Gomoa Buduburam near Obolo Estate in the Central Region.
The police received a tip-off that the suspect was planning to sell the young girl (name withheld) to raise funds for his travel to Canada.
Officers from the Police Intelligence Unit posed as potential buyers, and during the transaction, the suspect requested GHS150,000.
Following his arrest, the man admitted that the child, who is the daughter of his senior brother, Kwadwo Brako, residing in Nyamebekyere, a village near Akyem Ayirebi in the Eastern Region, was the intended victim.
He had invited her to stay with him under the guise of offering better educational opportunities, only to exploit her for financial gain.
The child and the suspect have been handed over to the Kasoa Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) for further investigation.
