CID confirms arrest of fugitive armed robbery suspect in Togo

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of a notorious armed robbery suspect, Abdul Majibu, a Togolese national, who had been on the run since 2024.
The suspect, also known as Adinda Akpo Abdou, was arrested in Togo through a coordinated effort between the Ghana Police Service and Interpol in Togo.
His arrest comes after months of cross-border collaboration and intelligence sharing between the two countries.
Addressing the media, Director-General of the CID, DCOP Lydia Yaako Donkor, revealed that Abdul Majibu, along with an accomplice, Alidu Marzouk, was linked to a series of high-profile armed robberies in Accra that took place between 2022 and 2024.
DCOP Donkor disclosed that the suspect was initially arrested in Ghana on September 4, 2024, but managed to escape custody and fled the country, prompting a regional manhunt.
She explained that through sustained diplomatic and law enforcement engagements between Ghana and Togo, the fugitive was re-arrested in Togo and is now in the custody of the Ghana Police.
"The Ghana Police Service, through the CID, remains committed to ensuring that justice is served and all criminals are brought to face the full rigours of the law," DCOP Donkor assured the public.
On behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, she expressed gratitude to the Togo National Police Force and officials of the Ghana Embassy in Togo for their critical role in securing the suspect’s arrest and return.
The suspect is expected to face trial in Ghana in the coming weeks.
