Police impounds 8.4K marijuana slabs at Bono
The Ghana Police Service has impounded 180 sacks of dried leaves each containing 47 slabs of suspected marijuana in a Burkina Faso-bound vehicle at Bono.
According to the Drug Law Enforcement Unit of the police, the carefully packed slabs were concealed in sawdust and other goods in the Rhino cargo truck with registration number GR 2474-16.
Both the driver and his mate, 27-year-old Ayuba Ali and 20-year-old Ametus Sori, natives of Kunnyukuon near Babile in the Upper West Region, were to receive GHS7,000 as payment for the transportation of the goods.
They, however, said they did not know the owner of the consignment.
According to them, they were only hired to move the goods Nsawkaw in the Tain district to Hamile, close to the border with Burkina Faso.
The police say the suspect will be arraigned.
