Individuals involved in the assault on the staff of the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition on January 15, 2026, have been identified and arrested, authorities have confirmed.

A statement clarifying the incident indicated that the suspects are neither operatives of the National Security nor officers of the Ghana Police Service, contrary to earlier media reports and social media claims.

The clarification follows widespread reports alleging that uniformed police officers assaulted ministry staff after an altercation involving an official ministry vehicle.

The incident occurred when a Toyota Civilian bus, with registration number GV-11, conveying staff of the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition on official duty, was intercepted by individuals travelling in a black pick-up vehicle.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspects crossed the ministry vehicle and ordered the driver to alight without offering any explanation.

A video circulating on social media shows one of the individuals, dressed in a striped polo shirt, slapping the driver while he was still seated behind the steering wheel.

The individual is further seen climbing onto the bus and attempting to forcibly pull the driver out, in the presence of other passengers.

Occupants of the bus were reportedly left shocked and distressed, insisting that there was no provocation or prior confrontation to justify the attack.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing, while authorities have assured the public that appropriate legal action will be taken against all those involved.
