2020 Spelling Bee champ calls on Bawumia
The 2020 Spelling Bee champion, Ms. Nadia Chelpang Mashoud and other members of the Spelling Bee team from Alhassan Gbanzaba Memorial School in Tamale today, Thursday, 27 February 2020 paid a courtesy call on Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia at the Jubilee House.
This is the first time in the history of the competition that the winner has come from the northern part of Ghana.

Dr Bawumia congratulated the team, the teachers and management of the school led by Mrs Jane Alhassan and Mariama Alhassan for their historic achievement.
He encouraged schools in all regions to participate in these competitions “so that we may uncover more hidden gems.”

Dr Bawumia further underscored the significance of education to the development of the Ghanaian youth and urged them to continue shining in their fields of endeavour.
He also wished Nadia Mashoud well as she prepares to represent Ghana at Scripps National Spelling Bee in the USA.
