2022 WASSCE begins today
The project work subjects for the 2022 West African Senior Schools Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) will be written today, Monday, 1 August 2022, across the country.
The examinations will end on Tuesday, 27 September 2022.
In all 422,883 candidates were registered for this year’s exams from 977 schools.
Seventy-two visually impaired students and 14 hearing impaired students have also been registered to take the exam.
Candidates will on Monday, 28 August 2022, take the English Language Orals paper.
However, the objective and essays for English language will be written on Thursday, 8 September 2022.
The Minority in Parliament had earlier cautioned that as a result of lack of funds, the exam may not be conducted.
Minority Spokesperson on Education Peter Nortsu-Kotoe last week told Parliament that: “The situation has become dire as no money has been released to WAEC for the conduct of the 2022 WASSCE and BECE.
“WAEC immediately needs a total of GHS 96,694,432.40 to engage in a number of pre-examination activities, transportation, and allowances for examiners, supervisors, invigilators and depot-keepers.”
Reacting to the allegations, Deputy Minister of Education, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour noted that all examinations scheduled by WAEC will take place.
“Disregard the propaganda. Every examination that the Ministry has scheduled with WAEC will come off.
“So disregard any rumours that we are going to suspend or cancel any examination that we have arranged. Every obligation has been met with WAEC, so every attempt that seeks to mar the relationship must be discredited,” Reverend Fordjour stated.
