Changing basic school uniforms to blue and white needless - Educationist

Mr. Samuel Zigah, an educationist, has criticized the Ministry of Education's proposal to change the uniforms of basic schools from brown to blue and white nationwide.
He deems the proposal unnecessary and believes that the focus should be on more essential aspects to revamp the education sector.
In his view, eradicating basic schools under trees should take precedence over changing uniforms.
He questions the transformative impact that altering the uniform colours from brown to blue and white would have on the education sector.
Mr. Zigah urges the sector Minister to prioritize tangible initiatives that will truly improve the lives of teachers and students.
Mr. Zigah made these remarks in response to the sector Minister's proposal during an interview on Accra 100.5 FM's evening news on Friday, April 26, 2024.
He suggests that instead of changing the uniforms of basic schools, the Minister should focus on updating the uniforms of the staff within the Ministry.
Furthermore, Mr. Zigah expresses concerns that the proposed uniform change could potentially serve as a means to award lucrative contracts to associates and allies.
He also highlights the financial burden that such a change would impose on parents.
