A final-year student of the Mamfe Methodist Girls’ Senior High School (MEGHIS) in the Eastern Region, Cindy Aku Sika Addo, has died.
This follows the death of a final-year Business student of KNUST Senior High School in the Ashanti Region on Tuesday, 7 July 2020.
The student died after suffering stomach pain for more than three hours without being given any medical attention.
Confirming the death of Ms Addo in a statement issued by the Ghana Education Service (GES) and signed by its Head of Public Relations Unit, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, on Sunday, 19 July 2020, the GES said it “has learnt with shock the death of a final-year student” who was in the “General Arts 4A” class of the Methodist Girls’ SHS.
The GES indicated that: “The sad event occurred on Friday, 17 July 2020. Management of the school quickly rushed Cindy to Tetteh Quarshie Hospital at Mampong around 11 pm on Thursday, 16 July 2020 when her friends detected that she was not well.”
The statement continued: “Her parents were immediately informed and they went to the hospital to see her. She was later referred to the Koforidua Regional Hospital where she, unfortunately, passed on the next day on Friday, 17 July 2020.”
The GES also extended “its deepest condolences to the bereaved family” and assured them that it “stands with them at this difficult time.”
The GES further assured the family of “support in giving a befitting burial to the deceased.”
