The Ghana Education Service (GES) has assured parents, candidates, and the general public that this year’s school placement exercise for Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates will be conducted in a fair, transparent, and merit-based manner.

Addressing a press conference in Accra, the Director-General of GES, Prof Ernest Kofi Davis, said adequate measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth and credible placement process.

As part of preparations, the GES has rolled out a nationwide sensitisation campaign to guide students, parents, and school authorities through the placement procedures.

A new online review system has also been introduced to reduce errors associated with school selection.

From September 1 to 8, 2025, candidates will be able to log on to www.cssps.gov.gh to review and confirm their entries, including school codes, gender codes, and programme codes.

An explainer video will accompany the process to assist both parents and students.

The actual placement exercise is scheduled to begin on September 17, 2025, following the release of BECE results on August 23, 2025.

Successful candidates are expected to report to their respective schools between October 18 and 20, 2025.

Prof. Davis strongly cautioned against individuals and groups who attempt to exploit desperate parents by selling school placements.

“Placement is free and not for sale. Anyone who demands money in exchange for school placement is engaging in an illegal business and should be reported to law enforcement,” he stressed.

To address potential challenges, the GES will establish call centres in all regions with dedicated helplines, as well as district-level resolution centres to handle complaints swiftly.

The Director-General reiterated that GES remains committed to upholding fairness and transparency throughout the process.

“With the introduction of an online review system, clear timelines, and support structures, we are confident that the 2025 placement exercise will be smooth, credible, and merit-based,” he said.
