The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has announced plans to destroy a large consignment of seized illicit drugs, including cannabis, cocaine, tramadol, and ecstasy, with an estimated street value running into millions of Ghana cedis.

According to officials, the consignment comprises:

6,513 kilograms of cannabis valued at GH₵651,300

1.5 kilograms of cocaine valued at GH₵135,000

Tramadol and ecstasy are worth GH₵5,928,000

Capsules valued at GH₵11,856,000

The drugs, seized from different parts of the country, bring the total value of the consignment to several million cedis.

NACOC said the destruction exercise forms part of its mandate to seize and eliminate illegal narcotics from circulation.

The move, the Commission noted, is intended to disrupt the supply chain of illicit drugs while reinforcing the government’s commitment to safeguarding public health and security.

The Commission emphasised that the exercise will also serve as a strong deterrent to traffickers and users, sending a clear message that Ghana remains firm in its fight against drug trafficking and abuse.
