Delapidated chief's palace

Residents of Akyem Bontodiase in the Akyemansa District of the Eastern Region have expressed deep concern over the poor state of their chief’s palace, describing it as an embarrassment that tarnishes the image of the town.

According to the indigenes, the palace, which was built many years ago, has not undergone any major renovation, leaving it in a deteriorated state.

They argue that the structure is unbefitting of a community that is home to many prominent personalities and regarded as one of the largest and most notable towns in the district.

“It is disgraceful that with all the influential people from this town, our chief’s palace remains an old, dilapidated building,” some residents lamented.

“Because of this, even politicians and other dignitaries do not value or recognise our chiefs.

The palace is not attractive enough to welcome them, let alone inspire development.”

The residents have therefore appealed to the town’s royal family to prioritise the construction of a modern palace that would restore dignity and reflect the true status of Akyem Bontodiase.

Responding to the concerns, the Ekuona Royal Family assured the community that steps were being taken to address the situation.

The family announced plans to demolish the existing palace and commence the construction of a new, befitting structure.

“We are committed to rebuilding a modern chief’s palace for Bontodiase,” representatives of the royal family stated.

“We will immediately begin the process and appeal to our people abroad and well-wishers for support in making this a reality.”
