NDC Eastern Regional youth wing to hold candlelight vigil for helicopter crash victims
The Eastern Regional Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced plans to hold a candlelight vigil in honour of the eight victims of last week’s tragic helicopter crash.
The solemn event will take place on Wednesday, 13th August 2025, starting at 6:00 PM prompt.
Participants will gather at the Effiduase Traffic and march to Jackson Park, where the vigil will be held.
The victims to be honoured include:
Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence who hails from the region
Dr. Alhaji Murtala Muhammad, Minister of Environment
Alhaji Muniru Mohammed. Deputy National Security Coordinator
Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman. NDC
Samuel Aboagye
Sqn. Leader Peter Bafemi Anala (Ghana Air Force)
Flying Officer Twum Ampadu (Ghana Air Force)
Sgt. Ernest Addo Mensah (Ghana Air Force)
NDC has called on all attendees to dress in black and red, the official mourning colours of the party, to symbolise both grief and solidarity.
According to the Youth Wing, the candlelight vigil will serve as a moment of collective remembrance for the departed, reflecting on their service and contributions to the nation.
