Concerned Nurses, Midwives condemn GRNMA General Secretary over unsavoury comments against Health Minister

The Concerned Nurses and Midwifery Association of Ghana has strongly criticised the General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Dr. David Tenkorang-Twum, over remarks he recently made against the Minister of Health.
In a statement signed by President Abena Serwaa Akoto and Secretary Francis Asaba, the group said while it supports nurses and midwives in addressing their legitimate grievances, it considers the language used by Dr. Tenkorang-Twum as “highly unacceptable and unbecoming” of a leader of his standing.
“As a senior representative of the nursing profession, Dr. Tenkorang-Twum should have exercised greater discretion, professionalism, and respect in his choice of words, regardless of any disagreement with government policy or actions,” the statement read.
The Association stressed that leadership at such a level requires maturity, diplomacy, and the ability to express dissent without resorting to personal attacks or derogatory remarks, insisting that the approach taken by the GRNMA General Secretary fell short of these standards.
It further urged nursing leaders across the country to uphold decorum and professionalism in public discourse, warning that intemperate language could tarnish the reputation of the profession.
The group expressed hope that Dr. Tenkorang-Twum would reflect on his comments and exercise better judgment in future engagements to safeguard the image of nurses and midwives nationwide.
