GES completes arrangements for promotion of Deputy Directors to Director II and Director I
The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the completion of arrangements for the promotion of qualified staff on the Deputy Director rank to the higher grades of Director II and Director I.
In a statement issued to the general public, particularly teachers, GES said a dedicated committee tasked with overseeing the promotion process has submitted its final report to management.
The committee comprised representatives from the GES, the Public Services Commission (PSC), the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
According to the statement, the process was preceded by extensive consultations with all relevant stakeholders, including significant reviews and inputs from the teacher unions, to ensure transparency, fairness, and broad consensus.
Following the completion of this work, GES management indicated that the first call for applications, as well as the aptitude test for promotion to the ranks of Director II and Director I, is expected to be announced by the end of the first quarter of the year 2026.
GES also announced a major policy shift regarding promotions to these senior ranks.
Promotion will no longer be dependent on the availability of limited office vacancies, as was previously the case. This development, the service noted, is in line with the commitment made by President John Dramani Mahama to teachers.
Management assured all eligible staff that further details, including guidelines and timelines, will be communicated in due course through official GES channels only, urging teachers to rely on verified sources for information on the promotion process.
