Teacher unions strike over COLA
Teacher unions across the country have declared a strike action effective today, Monday, 4 July 2022, over government’s refusal to pay their Cost of Living Allowances (COLA) in the wake of increasing hardship in the country.
The teachers have been demanding COLA since the beginning of the year.
According to the teachers, the increase rate of inflation in the country has eroded their meagre salaries making life unbearable for them.
In a statement, the teachers said they cannot bear the economic hardship anymore.
The strike involves both teaching and non-teaching staff.
