Ambulance case: Bring original tape if you claim mine is doctored - Jakpa to AG

General News
The release of the audio has led to accusations of misconduct against Mr. Dame

Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame has been dared by the third accused person in the ambulance case, Mr Richard Jakpa, to produce the original tape in which a male voice resembling his (AG's) was heard attempting to influence him to implicate Minority Leader Cassiel

Ato Forson in the ongoing ambulance trial.

"They are claiming it is a doctored tape. I didn’t say that, so, they should bring the origina", Mr Jakpa told journalists after Tuesday's hearing.

"They should tender the original to the court," he challenged.

He explained: "We had a private conversation, and it is a conversation that leads to committing crimes, so, it can no longer be private."

"It becomes a crime against the states," Mr Jakpa insisted.

“So that private claim is neither here nor there. There must be justice, and I am here seeking justice.”

Mr Dame has denied the allegation, describing it as a trap set for him by "wicked" people and "evildoers".

Speaking on the issue personally for the first time, Mr Dame told journalists on Tuesday: "All I can say is that the Lord does not delight in the pleasure of the wicked. Even though they have laid traps for me, I will flee from them. And righteousness will always prevail over evil."

The controversy erupted when the NDC released the audio recording allegedly capturing a conversation in which Mr. Dame is heard advising Mr Richard Jakpa on how to testify in court.

The conversation purportedly included instructions to discredit the Minority Leader, Dr. Ato Forson.

The release of the audio has led to accusations of misconduct against Mr. Dame, with the NDC questioning his suitability to lead the Ghana Bar and his role as Attorney General and Minister of Justice. The opposition party has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to dismiss Mr. Dame if he does not resign.
