Bryan Acheampong mourns victims of El-Wak Stadium tragedy, calls for urgent review of recruitment processes
The Member of Parliament for Abetifi and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident at the El-Wak Sports Stadium, where several young Ghanaians reportedly lost their lives during a military recruitment exercise.
In a heartfelt statement, Dr. Acheampong described the incident as a national tragedy that has “cut short the dreams of several young Ghanaians” and left “a wound on the nation’s soul.”
“I am deeply heartbroken by the tragedy at El-Wak Sports Stadium, where the dreams of several young Ghanaians have been cut short during the military recruitment exercise.
This loss is a wound to our nation’s soul,” he said.
The Abetifi MP extended his condolences to the bereaved families, assuring them that “their pain is shared by all Ghanaians.”
He further called for a thorough review of the recruitment process to ensure such a disaster never happens again.
“Every Ghanaian life is sacred, and I urge that a thorough review be conducted to prevent such occurrences in the future,” he stated.
Dr. Acheampong emphasised the need for reflection and reform, stressing that Ghana’s youth deserve opportunities that are safe, dignified, and hopeful.
“This tragedy demands urgent reflection.
Our youth deserve opportunities that are safe, dignified, and hopeful.
May the departed rest in perfect peace, and may their memory strengthen our resolve to build a Ghana where hope is never crushed,” he concluded.
