Buduburam demolition: Squatters given up to Sept. 30 to move

Residents of the Budumburam camp in the Central Region have been asked to move from the area by 30 September 2021 to pave the way for a planned demolition.
This was contained in a letter signed by the District Chief Executive for Gomoa East, Mr Solomon Darko Quarm.
The camp, which, for over two decades, has served as a refuge for Liberian refugees, will be demolished and redeveloped.
The place will be gentrified to have a senior high school, a residential community, and a modern market.
The camp, which was decommissioned as a refugee base by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in June 2010, has become a settlement and now bears the infamous credential as a hideout for social deviants, including alleged robbery gangs.
