CJ implements Court Shift System by March 25
The Office of the Judicial Secretary is pleased to announce the introduction of a Court Shift System, effective from March 25th, 2024.
This system is being implemented on a pilot basis with the aim of optimizing the use of existing court resources to reduce the volume of cases before the courts.
After a thorough assessment of court dockets nationwide, it was observed that many courts are burdened with large numbers of pending cases, with some courts having more than 600 cases awaiting resolution.
Recognizing the need for innovative solutions to address this backlog, the Court Shift System has been designed to expedite case resolution and enhance access to justice for all citizens.
The Court Shift System will involve the implementation of flexible court hours to accommodate different schedules, thereby making justice more accessible to individuals with varied commitments.
This initiative is expected to significantly reduce the backlog of cases in designated courts and improve the overall efficiency of the judicial system.
The Office of the Judicial Secretary remains committed to ensuring timely and fair dispensation of justice to all citizens. We encourage stakeholders, including legal practitioners and litigants, to support this initiative as we work towards a more efficient and responsive judicial system.
We thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we embark on this important endeavour.
