COP28: Lands ministry committed to contribute towards achievement of global target, 1.5 °C by 2030

The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Benito Owusu-Bio has on behalf of the Sector Minister, Samuel A. Jinapor, reiterated the position of Government though the Lands Ministry as far as mitigating global warming is concerned.
Speaking at a National Pre-COP28 meeting organised by the Ministry of Environment Science Technology (MESTI) in Accra, the Deputy Minister said the Ministry is committed to fight deforestation and forest degradation and also contribute to the global target of achieving 1.5 °C by 2030.
Mr Owusu-Bio in his statement tabled preparations made by the Lands Ministry in line with the it's attendance and participation at the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) which is scheduled to be held at Expo City, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from November 30 to December 13, 2022.
The Deputy Minister also extended invitation to the participants to a number of programmes scheduled to take place at the Ghana Pavilion organised by the Ministry and also to the Pre-COP28 Event which is scheduled for Thursday, 23rd November, 2023 at Kempinski Gold Coast in Accra, which he explained will bring together stakeholders and partners in the forestry, mining and land sub-sectors to discuss various events that will take place in COP28.
Owusu-Bio sought the support of stakeholders as he invited them to join hands and consolidate their collective gains made in the fight against climate change.
The National Pre - COP28 meeting also went through the overview of the COP28 to have a common voice at Ghana Pavilion during the event, with other participating Ministries including Energy, Finance, Agriculture, Transport, Local Government and Rural Development and Sanitation and Water Resources, taking turns to give statements on their readiness for this year's COP28.
