COVID-19: Pastor arrested for breaking ban on social gatherings

A pastor was on Wednesday, 18 March 2020 arrested by the Ashanti regional police command for organising church service, breaking the government’s ban on all social gatherings in the country following the outbreak of COVID-19.
Pastor Kofi Nkansah Sarkodie of the Open Arms Ministry was busted with two other junior pastors.
According to reports, some church members attempted to prevent the police but were unsuccessful.
President Nana Akufo-Addo placed a ban on all social gatherings including church and mosque services, funerals, festivals, conferences and others to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Many churches have issued statements to confirm their adherence to the directive.
Other events on the entertainment calender such as the annual Kwahu Easter, Paragliding festival, VGMA's nominations jam and a host of others have been suspended or cancelled.
