Cease collecting digital transport, booking fees – DVLA to digital transport operators

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has directed operators of digital transportation to cease the implementation of the Digital Transport Guidelines.
The directive follows “reactions and concerns towards implementation of the Digital Transport Guidelines, particularly with respect to fees charged by Digital Transport Operators and given various descriptions such as Digital Transport Fee, Booking Fee among others.”
“All Digital Transport operators are to immediately cease collecting such fees,” the DVLA directed in a statement issued by its Chief Executive Kwasi Agyeman Busia for distribution to the operators of digital transport operators in the country including, Yango, Bolt and Uber.
According to the DVLA, it will hold consultations with the “Ministry of Transport and other stakeholders in the industry.”
This is to ensure that any “introductions are done with stakeholder input,” the DVLA added.
