The Ministry for the Interior has enforced a curfew in Sampa, located in the Jaman North District of the Bono region, following a chieftaincy dispute.
Acting upon the advice of the Bono Regional Security Council and in accordance with the appropriate Legislative Instrument, the Ministry announced the curfew through a press statement signed by Minister Henry Quartey on Thursday, April 18.
Effective immediately, the curfew will be in place from 4:00 pm to 7:00 am each day.
The Ministry highlighted the importance of peaceful resolution, urging chiefs, opinion leaders, youth, and residents to exercise restraint amidst the challenges and to seek non-violent means to address grievances, promoting peace in the area.
Furthermore, the Ministry declared a total ban on carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons within the Sampa town.
Any individual found in possession of such items will face arrest and prosecution, as stated in the Ministry's press release.
