Dormaa West DCE Warns PWDs against misusing gov't support

The Dormaa West District Assembly in the Bono Region has disbursed GH¢250,000 in cash and equipment to 50 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in the district as part of the government’s efforts to improve livelihoods and promote inclusion.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the District Chief Executive, Mr. Stephen Azorba cautioned beneficiaries against misusing the support, expressing concern over reports that some recipients had previously sold or diverted items meant to improve their economic well-being.

“Any beneficiary found misusing this assistance will be arrested and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others,” Mr. Azorba warned.

He stressed that the initiative was designed to empower PWDs to become self-reliant and contribute to the local economy, not to be squandered on irrelevant activities.

Chairman of the Federation of Persons with Disabilities in Dormaa West, Dickson Kwateng, commended the government for the timely intervention.

He, however, appealed for an upward review of PWDs’ share of the District Assemblies Common Fund to enable them to better address their pressing needs.
